The 38th Annual UCEA Convention is currently scheduled to be held November 20-23, 2024, at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in Los Angeles, California. Part of the honor of being a 2nd-year Jackson Scholar is the responsibility of presenting at the UCEA Convention in the Jackson Scholars Network Research Symposium which takes place on Thursday, November 21. Your research presentation should be a comprehensive (10-12 minute) PowerPoint presentation of your dissertation research as it stands in November 2024. You may present your dissertation progress or your dissertation plans. If you will not have either by that time, you may present any other research you are conducting with your advisor. Your proposal should reflect your presentation intentions to the degree possible.
All 2nd-year Scholars are required to submit a proposal for their presentation by the end of Monday, August 1, 2024 (11:59 pm EDT). The proposal should be submitted through All Academic (link below). Remember you are submitting to Jackson Scholars Network Research Symposium!!
Proposal submission length should not exceed three (3) single-spaced pages (approximately 1,500 words or 6,000 characters; excluding references and tables/figures) using 12-point font (Times New Roman). References are required and must not exceed one (1) single-spaced page (approximately 400 words or 2,200 characters).
The following components will be required, so you should have them ready prior to uploading your proposal. Remember to submit to Jackson Scholars Network Research Symposium.
1. Title – As you would like it to appear in the program.
2. Abstract – Limit to 75 words.
3. References – 400 words maximum.
