In January, the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and the Collaboration for Effective Educator Development, Accountability, and Reform Center (CEEDAR) released PSEL 2015 and Promoting Principal Leadership for the Success of Students with Disabilities.
This guidance document is intended primarily for chief state school officers and their state education agency (SEA) staff. Its ultimate goal is to provide SEAs with actionable steps to promote practices and cultivate competencies for effective principal leadership where each child has an equitable opportunity to succeed with a particular focus on students with disabilities. Specifically, the document provides guidance on how the PSEL 2015 can be applied to support inclusive principal leadership for the success of students with disabilities and highlights key competencies toward that end. In addition to its connection to PSEL 2015, this document closely relates to elements of the upcoming National Educational Leadership Preparation (NELP)Standards and the 2015 Model Principal Supervisor Standards.
